Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) has been an active participant in the South African automotive industry since 1923, and remains one of Southern Africa's leading automotive companies. FMCSA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, selling over 73,856 vehicles in 2016. In 2016 Ford Motor Company invested R2.5-billion ($170-million US Dollars) to expand operations at its Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria, South Africa, to produce the all-new Ford Everest, along with the new Ford Ranger that was launched at the end of 2015. The all-new Everest will be exported to Sub Saharan Africa markets. The Ford Ranger is exported to 148 countries worldwide.
